If you are someone who identifies as LGBTQIA+ as well as a part of the alter-human community and/or furry fandom, I eagerly invite your participation. My research project endeavours to work with different animal-affiliated groups to uncover how their ways of understanding the more-than-human can combat anthropocentrism and the climate crisis.
There are two options available for participation, and you may choose to participate in both:
#1. Participants will be asked to create a work of art that tells a story about participants’ non-/alter-human selves around a list of themes that will be revealed should you agree to participate.
Formats include but are not limited to zines, comics, cartoons, animations, and music videos, but the medium is entirely up to the participant. Upon submission, participants will engage in an online or in-person interview to discuss the piece lasting no longer than an hour.
#2. Participants will be asked to discuss their relationship to non-human species, the furry and/or therian community, society, and the environment. Additional questions around life experiences, self-concept, and socio-political identities will be asked. Interviews will be conducted online or in-person, based on the comfortability and availability of the participant, and will be set at the participant’s pace.
